About me
Hello and welcome!
I’m Erica Simonich (she/her) and a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. I practice gynecology to my fullest scope and have special interests in hormonal issues, sexual health, contraception, recurrent vaginitis and abnormal pap follow up. I am also certified as a menopause specialist from The Menopause Society. I am licensed in Oregon and Washington for in-person or virtual visits. English is my primary language, and Spanish is my second language.
I am from Minneapolis, MN and very proud of my Midwest roots. I started my career as a high-risk Labor & Delivery nurse in 2001 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. After many years of inpatient care and travel nursing, I completed my training as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 2012 from Frontier Nursing University. After working in San Francisco and Austin, I made my way to Portland in 2014 and have been providing holistic gynecological care in the metro area since then.
I strongly believe in looking at the whole health picture, not just the isolated pieces. While I do not provide direct primary care, I will consider your entire health status and look to see how all the parts are integrating. I have carefully curated a very robust referral network in the Portland healthcare community and work very closely with other members of the team to help fortify each patient’s health status. It’s not uncommon to “see” my wheels turning during a visit as I brainstorm options with you. I love a good puzzle but am also very happy to be bored with a vibrant patient experiencing good health. If you are seeking a provider who respects your journey and appreciates joint decision making, then I am happy to support you. Collaborative health care is good medicine.
When I am not providing healthcare, I am doing my best to recharge my battery. I am a savage gardener, love growing flowers from seed and then watching the insects enjoy them. I dabble in amateur bug photography, love to cook, lift weights and watch squirrels wrestle in the front yard. I am also a giant fan of Prince and the Minnesota Vikings.
